Via Ferrata means “iron road” in italien and is used to describe a mountain route equipped with iron cables, ladders and bridges. Starting in the Dolomites, originally built during the 1st World War to aid the movement of mountain infantry, today the Via Ferratas make peaks, ridges and mountain faces accessible to people with a wide range of climbing abilities.
Without bringing our own ropes and building our own belays we can safely ascend long and exposed routes in mountain ranges all over Europe. An activity related to climbing, mountaineering and hiking at the same time, for sporty people not scared of heights!
Guided Via Ferrata can be done as a day-trip from Chamonix, or we can organize longer multi-day Via Ferrata adventure in the Alps, where we go from hut to hut travelling along mountain ridges and exposed mountain faces.

Via Corda Alpina in Chamonix
A similar activity, suitable for hikers who want a smooth introduction to rock climbing, is the Via Corda Alpine in Chamonix. The climb is less exposed then the Via Ferrata, but therefore you will only use the natural features of the rock to ascend it. Winding up over the rocky slabs below the Montenvers train we climb through the forest, eventually getting great views of the end of the Mer de Glace glacier and over to Les Aiguilles Rouges.
Price: Max 2 persons per guide, 520€ per group.
